Export markets
Steering is the first constraint on any enquiry, because it determines which of the six specifications an importer can actually register. Each region below covers its steering convention, the conformity certificate required before loading, the usual ports and realistic transit times.
Electric Pickup Export to Africa
Africa splits cleanly by steering: East and Southern Africa are right-hand drive, West and Central Africa are left-hand drive. That single fact determines which of the six specifications an importer can register, so it is the first question we ask on any African enquiry.
- Steering
- Mixed — RHD in East and Southern Africa, LHD in West Africa
- Main ports
- Mombasa · Dar es Salaam · Lagos (Apapa/Tin Can) · Tema
- Countries served
- 12 markets
Ro-Ro from Shanghai to Mombasa runs 28–35 days, to Dar es Salaam 30–38 days, to Lagos 35–42 days and to Durban 28–34 days. Containerised 40HQ shipments take two units per box and protect paint on long transits — worth the premium on high-value Premium specification units.
Electric Pickup Export to ASEAN and Southeast Asia
ASEAN is the most pickup-literate region in the world and the hardest to enter on price alone, because Thailand and Indonesia both build one-tonne diesel pickups locally. The opening is in fleet electrification mandates and in SKD assembly, not in competing on a landed CBU price against a locally built Hilux.
- Steering
- Mixed — RHD in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore; LHD in Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia and Laos
- Main ports
- Laem Chabang · Port Klang · Tanjung Priok (Jakarta) · Manila
- Countries served
- 10 markets
Short sea from Shanghai: Laem Chabang 7–10 days, Port Klang 10–14 days, Jakarta 12–16 days, Manila 7–10 days, Ho Chi Minh City 6–9 days. Container shipping dominates because transit times are short enough that Ro-Ro's cost advantage is thin.

Electric Pickup Export to the GCC and Middle East
The entire GCC is left-hand drive, so the eTerron 9 Premium 4WD, eTerron 9 Luxury 4WD and T90 EV Double Cab are the three eligible specifications. The binding constraint in this region is not steering or duty — it is ambient temperature and its effect on battery thermal management.
- Steering
- Left-hand drive throughout
- Main ports
- Jebel Ali · Dammam · Jeddah · Hamad (Doha)
- Countries served
- 10 markets
Shanghai to Jebel Ali runs 18–24 days by container, 22–28 days Ro-Ro. Dammam and Jeddah add 2–5 days. Jebel Ali free zone is the standard consolidation point for mixed-destination orders in this region.
Electric Pickup Export to Central Asia and the CIS
Central Asia is the one region where rail beats sea. Container rail from Xi'an or Chengdu reaches Almaty in 8–12 days and Tashkent in 12–16 — less than half the time of any sea-and-truck combination, and with no port handling.
- Steering
- Left-hand drive throughout
- Main ports
- Khorgos (rail) · Dostyk (rail) · Almaty (rail terminal) · Tashkent (rail terminal)
- Countries served
- 9 markets
China–Europe rail from Xi'an or Chengdu: Almaty 8–12 days, Tashkent 12–16 days, Baku 16–20 days. Sea alternatives route via Poti or Bandar Abbas and add two to three weeks plus inland trucking.

Electric Pickup Export to Latin America
Latin America is left-hand drive throughout and already familiar with the MAXUS brand — SAIC MAXUS runs national distributors across Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, Panama and the Dominican Republic. Independent importers compete on speed and on fleet specification, not on brand introduction.
- Steering
- Left-hand drive throughout
- Main ports
- Callao · San Antonio · Manzanillo · Cartagena
- Countries served
- 12 markets
Shanghai to Callao and San Antonio runs 30–38 days, Manzanillo 22–28 days, Cartagena 32–40 days via Panama. Ro-Ro dominates the Pacific coast route; Atlantic-coast destinations often price better containerised.
Electric Pickup Export to the Caribbean and Pacific Islands
Island markets buy in ones and twos, not in containers of twenty, and every exporter that insists on a ten-unit minimum order quantity is invisible to them. We quote from a single unit for this region, consolidated into shared containers where the destination allows.
- Steering
- Mixed — RHD in Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados, Guyana, Fiji and PNG; LHD in the Dominican Republic, Curaçao and Suriname
- Main ports
- Kingston · Port of Spain · Bridgetown · Willemstad
- Countries served
- 11 markets
Shanghai to Kingston 32–40 days, Port of Spain 35–42 days, Suva 24–30 days, Port Moresby 18–24 days. Consolidation through a Panama or Singapore transhipment hub is standard for single-unit orders.
