Electric pickup truck export to Peru

Peru is left-hand drive and registers vehicles through the MTC vehicle registry. The China–Peru free trade agreement removes customs duty on most Chinese-origin goods against a valid certificate of origin, which makes the landed-cost arithmetic unusually favourable for a Latin American market.

What does Peru require?

Steering
Left-hand drive
Pre-export certificate
MTC vehicle registry compliance (Registro de Vehículos)
Issuing body
Ministerio de Transportes y Comunicaciones
Vehicle age rule
Used-vehicle import restrictions apply; new vehicles are unaffected
Ports and routing
Callao (primary), Paita, Matarani
Sea or rail transit
30–38 days from Shanghai

How is duty assessed?

The China–Peru FTA eliminates customs duty on most Chinese-origin goods against a valid certificate of origin, leaving IGV (VAT) and any applicable selective consumption tax. As in Chile, the certificate of origin is what unlocks the preference and a defective one loses it.

We quote FOB China and CIF Peru only — never landed cost, because a duty change between order and arrival would make that number wrong. Confirm the current rate with your clearing agent before committing to an order.

Who is buying MAXUS vehicles in Peru?

Mining support fleets in Arequipa, Cusco and the northern highlands, agricultural exporters on the coastal strip, and utility and telecoms field teams. Peru's altitude and gradient profile makes the same case for electric torque that Chile's does.

Which models can be registered in Peru?

Peru is left-hand drive, so the 17 models below are the eligible ones. Ordering the wrong steering is the single most expensive mistake in vehicle importing — the unit cannot be registered and cannot economically be returned.

Common questions about importing to Peru

Why does an electric pickup suit Peruvian altitude work?

Because an electric motor produces full torque regardless of air density. A naturally aspirated diesel loses roughly 10% of its power per thousand metres of altitude and a turbocharged one loses less but still loses; an electric driveline loses none. Above 3,000 m that difference is the whole argument, and it is why Andean mining enquiries convert at a higher rate than coastal ones.

Which specifications can be registered in Peru?

All seven models are offered in left-hand drive. Peru drives on the right.

How long does shipping to Callao take?

30–38 days from Shanghai. Ro-Ro dominates the Pacific coast route and is normally the cheaper option to Callao; containers price better where the final destination is inland and the vehicle would otherwise sit at the port waiting for a road movement.
